Litsa Menounos, Maria's mother, had been diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) which is a cancerous and difficult-to-treat form of brain cancer at the close of August, 2016 in the age of 60. Menounos had a significant role in caring for her mother during radiation and chemotherapy. Mariah Carey, an American actor and singer is also a producer of records. Guinness World Records has dubbed her "The Songbird Supreme". Her fame is based on the songwriting she does, the five-octave singing range and her use of the whistle.
